Estimating Tile Quantities to Buy

Ceramic tile is a hard surface and dense product that resists spills and scuffing. Ceramic tile is made from either natural clay or porcelain, and is glazed or unglazed. Ceramic tiles for floors are most often used in bathrooms, kitchens, and entry halls. There are several types of ceramic tile and many ways to categorize them. At the most basic level, tiles come either glazed or unglazed.

Before go to ceramic tile store, you should know how much tile you need to buy. To estimate the amount of tile you need for a floor project, multiply the length by the width to get the number of square feet of floor area. Don’t forget to add about 5 to 10 percent for breakage, miscuts and other mistakes. If you different color tiles, you need drawing the area and use your drawing to count the actual numbers of tiles of each color, adding the same percentage for miscuts and breakage.
